14,000 vouchers in a couple of months

"The Midwest was the only region to show an increase in their poverty rate – 11.6 percent in 2004, up from 10.7 percent in 2003. In 2004, the poverty rates for the Northeast (11.6 percent), South (14.1 percent) and West (12.6 percent) were unchanged from 2003. The South continued to have the highest poverty rate."

ALSO: poverty rates unchanged for kids and elderly; rose for indivs 18-64; ALSO: rose for native-born Americans; unchanged for foreign-born and non-citizens

So white American-born adults are experiencing an increase in poverty.

FYI: 37M pp live in poverty; only 1M or so are on public assistance (TANF).
