[Happy St. Patrick's Day! Last year's post still sums up the holiday for me. :)]
In my secret fantasy life as a Fashion Editor, I have dreamed of a fashion shoot with a fresh faced redheaded
model wearing... well, light, spring-y things, since this would be for the March issue, and use the whimsical title above. Call me wacky.
It also makes a good title for talking about the madness of This Day - especially in America's Irish City.
I'm value neutral on St. Patrick's Day - I could live without the rowdiness and the drunkenness, especially coupled with the sizability of Irish lads (and quite a few lasses, truth be told), but most everything else about the Irish story I find fascinating (especially the accent - which is certainly in the top 3 - Australians being sexier, and Scots being just wicked cooler).
I've had the misfortune for several years of finding myself on late night Metro North trains from New York City to My Mom's house in Westchester, perhaps the worst night ever, or possibly second to New Year's Eve: large numbers of drunken people, rowdiness, and fights (only my St. Pat's trains required police intervention). The lesson learned: hide. :)
So as I sit, holed up in the mansion, I have to say Boston seems even rowdier, considering that I was on the streets around 2:30, and the bars were already jumping, and the T was carrying mobs of 6-10 revelers in packs from one part of town to another. It's enough to make one conclude that St. Patrick is indeed the patron saint of booze (and no help that it's also Saturday night).
Can't wait to hear some drunken college girl screaming at 3 am. Life is a little duller without these special gems of urban living. :) Knock it off, Erin, and for God's sake - put your bra on. :)
ha ha ha...i'd been planning a post on living in ground zero of st. patty's day, next door to BC. add the winter storm falling on yesterday, friday afternoon, and it's been an orgiastic zoo over here for the last 30 hours.

And since when did teenagers travelling in drunken packs become the way to honor or celebrate a saint?
