Instapundit gets himself into high dudgeon over some curious new rules for photographing things in New York - the story in the Times explains that the
regulations were actually necessitated by a suit filed by a videographer who's been harassed about not having permits (under the new rules, he wouldn't need one), and are not aimed at amateurs or tourists (darn, as Jennifer will say).
...but the question is, who would? And I'll tell you my theory - reading between the lines, it appears aimed at Wedding Photographers. And like anyone who's witnessed the bizarre parades of huge bridal parties through Central Park photo shoots, I wouldn't mind requiring them to get a permit and pay a fee, especially if it would get some of them to go away.
You are right-darn. Too bad we couldn't arrest and deport (to their home state) all those tourists that weave families of 6 across crowded 5th Ave, or scream then laugh when the subway lurches, or stop just as they get off an escalator-I could go on but you get the point.
I have nothing against brides. I really don't ever go into the Park (unless forced to by friends or office events)as I don't do nature. Actually, I love to see the bridal parties (it's the clothes really) on 5th and PArk Avenue etc.
